Tip of the Month, June 2013: Best Chicken Wings in Raleigh? Enter to Win!

Chicken wings from Buffalo Brothers

Chicken wings. One of the best bar foods, ever. I prefer the drumettes and like them crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a nice and tasty sauce. I don’t want to kill my taste buds with wings that are insanely hot, but on the other hand I do like some heat and definitely lots of flavor.

I like bleu cheese dressing with my wings, at least the buffalo style, but ranch dressing works, too. I want lots of celery and carrots on the side. And don’t forget the napkins, please bring me plenty. If I’m not making a mess, then I’m probably not going to be a big fan of the wings. Extra points for places that have those cute little moist towelettes.

So where are your favorite places in Raleigh to get chicken wings? All who respond by 7/15/13 on the comment section of this post and suggest a great wing place automatically will be included in a drawing to win a $25.00 gift card to Target. So  please take just a minute and let me know where I need to conduct my next round of market research.

MinestroneFor my first giveaway of 2013, I’d love for my readers to provide me tips on where I can get the best soups in the Raleigh area. Stuff that would rival your grandmother’s homemade chicken soup. Stuff that would make the Soup Nazi proud. The reward? A $25.00 gift card to The Fresh Market! Yum!

The rules are simple. Just leave a comment about what your favorite soup, bisque, gumbo or chowder is in the Raleigh area and which restaurant serves it. No chili entries, please – that’s a future blog all on its own!

I am breaking this into two types of soups:

Those that contain meat, poultry or fish, like this hearty turkey, kielbasa and white bean soup:

Those which are vegetarian or vegan, like this refreshing chilled cucumber melon soup:

There will be two lucky winners — one for each category — drawn at random. The deadline for commenting is Jan. 31, 2013, at midnight.

So get your entries in – you can vote once for each category. Good luck! I can’t wait to hear (and try) your recommendations.

Best Meatball Sub in Raleigh? Comment for a Chance to Win

OK, so where’s the best meatball sub in Raleigh? I’m talking about delicious, homemade Italian meatballs with spicy marinara and lots of gooey cheese. The kind that comes on a freshly baked roll that’s crusty on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The kind that requires at least two napkins.

The last time I asked for people to recommend the best place to get a burger in the Triangle, in exchange for a chance of winning a Visa gift card, I got a number of wonderful suggestions and had a blast trying out as many as I could (oh, the things I do for this blog!)

This time, all of you who make recommendations by commenting to this post automatically will be included in a drawing to win a $25.00 gift card to Harris Teeter. So please let me know where I need to conduct my next round of market research, before I go meatless for the summer. You never know, you may be like my coworker Trina, who won the drawing last time!

The deadline to be eligible for the gift card drawing is Sunday, 1/22/12!
